FAQ
What is your availability?
I see clients during the week from 11am-8pm via tele-therapy. Once we have established a good time for your weekly session, I am happy to hold that time for you on a continual basis until our work in complete.
How long does therapy take?
The duration of therapy can vary significantly depending on several factors, including the unique circumstances, the specific issues being addressed, the therapeutic approach used, and the goals of therapy. There is no fixed timeline for therapy, as it is an individualized process. In some cases, therapy may be brief and focused, lasting only a few sessions or a couple of months. This can be suitable for specific concerns or when seeking support during a challenging life transition. Other individuals may engage in longer-term therapy, which can span several months or even years. This is often the case when working through deep-seated issues, complex trauma, or chronic mental health conditions. As for my couples, they tend to work with me for 3-6 months, with frequency of sessions moving to biweekly as progress is made. We will discuss your specific needs and goals to determine an appropriate timeframe for your therapy journey. Therapy is a collaborative process, as you make progress and achieve your desired outcomes, the frequency and duration of therapy sessions are adjusted accordingly.
How does tele-therapy work?
Teletherapy is similar to traditional in-person therapy but is conducted remotely via an online platform. It allows individuals and couples to receive therapy services from the comfort of their own homes or another private local of their choosing. We will connect through a secure and HIPAA-compliant communication platform (currently Zoom). The therapy session proceeds much like in-person therapy, only without having to take the extra time to drive to and from session. I have found that almost all my clients prefer tele-therapy to traditional in-person therapy and research has found tele-therapy to be as effective for providing treatment.
What is your rate for service?
My regular rate is: Individual Session (60 Min.)......................$150.00 Couple/Family Session (60 Min.).............$175.00 I offer a sliding fee, based on household income and number of people in the household, to those clients or families experiencing financial hardship. If you have a concern please mention it. There is a $75 late cancellation/no show fee.
Can I be reimbursed by my insurance?
I do not bill insurance directly. If requested, you will receive a receipt of services that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement for an out-of-network provider, based on your insurance coverage. Some of my reasoning: Coverage and benefits for therapy services change from one health insurance company to another and from plan to plan, but generally the following rules apply: Authorization: with many health insurance plans, coverage can be partial or very limited. Mostly because insurers profit from recipients not using their benefits. So, many of them set high standards to get claims accepted. And because mental health can be more difficult to measure than physical health, it can be harder to prove that care is essential. Constraints imposed: therapists are at the mercy of the insurance company for the treatment they can provide, including continually having to "justify" treatment. This ties the hands of therapists and clients to determine the trajectory of care. Confidentiality concerns: When a therapist accepts insurance, they are required to provide clinical information to the insurance company for reimbursement purposes. This may involve sharing details about the client's diagnosis, treatment plans, and progress. I value the privacy and confidentiality of the therapeutic relationship and prefer to keep my clients' information within the therapy space.
